About Cajun Skinner
My journey in sports began at the age of seven, eventually leading me to represent my country in swimming and earn a full scholarship to Missouri State University. There, I pursued and earned a BSc in Psychology, laying the foundation for my future in coaching.
Armed with this knowledge, I transitioned into coaching, where I achieved significant success.
Over 15 years, I guided athletes to national selection and secured coaching roles on various provincial teams. At the same time, my passion for education grew, leading me to spend eight years as a teacher. This experience not only allowed me to impart knowledge but also honed my speaking skills, reinforcing the power of effective communication in both coaching and teaching.
Amidst my coaching career, I delved into counseling, recognizing the need for a more directive coaching approach in therapy. This realization led me to integrate coaching principles into my counseling sessions, creating a more targeted and goal-oriented approach for individuals seeking positive change.
Through this journey, I discovered strategies and practices that significantly reduced the impact of stress, anxiety, and burnout in my own life. Now, I am dedicated to helping others who face similar challenges.
This evolution represents a natural progression in my career, blending my expertise in sports coaching, education, and counseling. Moving forward, my goal is to maximize positive outcomes and directly impact lives by providing a dynamic and results-driven coaching approach within the therapeutic setting.

Hello, I’m Cajun your wellness counsellor/coach. Note that I’m not a psychologist, so please relax for I won’t psycho-analyse you; nor am I a medical physician aiming to diagnose and treat you; also rest assured that neither am I a quack that will mislead you. I am a trained and registered wellness practitioner skilled in facilitating your self-care journey towards optimum mental and physical well-being. Your journey begins today. First, please take a seat, for I need to explain to you what wellness orientated healthcare is and what it entails. In this brief overview, I will cover the uniqueness of self-care within the context of wellness. I am sure that once you have grasped the gist of it, you will be as excited as I am to start this journey with me. First, you should realize that wellness healthcare differs from the biomedical method where you are treated as a patient.
I am sure that the concepts of wellness/wellbeing are not entirely new to you for it has recently become a buzzword in many circles. What is new, is the scientific value of its method and the healthcare benefits of its modalities. In essence, wellness is a holistic way of practicing healthcare where the entire person is the object of health and healing. Self-care is central to wellness for every person has the personal responsibility to seek wholeness and to live with integrity and quality. Therefore, as summed up by John Valenty, "Wellness is the result of personal initiative, seeking a more optimal, holistic and balanced state of health and well-being across multiple dimensions.“ Unfortunately, the burdens, stresses and challenges of life do not always allow us to integrate all aspects of our existence and pursue wholeness. This is why facilitated self-care is crucial.
